WHO WE ARE AND WHERE WE ARE
Hi all,
I wish to present myself. My name is Onda and I come from the far North and like my Norwegian Forest Cats, I have come to live down towards the South.
I was born in Scotland where I lived for a few years. So may years have gone by since I left my beloved Scotland, but the memories of its forests, lakes and green lawns are always with me. Now I live in the Tuscan country side (or “Chiantishire” as some wish to call it) on a hillock that I have called "Sweet Hillock".
All began two years ago, when my beloved black European pussy cat, called “Cagliostro” died. He was a wonderful cat with an extremely adorable character.
Therefore, my research started for another black cat, and as I was navigating on internet, I bumped into "Icaro" a Norwegian Forest Cat not completely black as he had a white collar and white socks. He was a kitten, almost three months, but he already had the character of a very proud and fascinating cat. I was immediately bewitched by that wild, proud aspect and that magnetic look ready to hypothesize you.
And so, our adventure in the Norwegian Forest Cat world started. We walked along the path of this wonderful feline world together with “Icaro” and had some great and marvelous adventures and discoveries.

We have called our small amateur breeding of Norwegian Forest Cats "Sweet Hillock" as the house, starting not so long ago: Our intent is, to preserve this marvelous natural race that has risked extinction. Our aim is to raise healthy Norwegians Forest Cats with an excellent temper, well balanced and expansive, while perfectly representing its breed.
For us, it is also important to nurture the character of our kittens, so that they will be wonderful companions for life for their new owners.
We live in the open country-side with our pussy cats and two Border Collies - Angus and Bonnie, both good sheep-dogs (have now become cat-dogs) they constantly check and control the cat-run, which is approx. 90mq with 2 olive trees, a couple of small wooden houses as shelters and a little fish pond (naturally with red fish) where the cats have a great time playing with the water, as these cats, differently to other cats, love water.
Our breeding has, a small number of cats, in order to be able to guarantee to all our cats the necessary attentions and love, which each of them has the right to have. Doing so, we are able to devote all the necessary time and attention to our kittens. All of this is very important, because, it is during their first months of life, that their personality and temper (character) are formed.
The matings are decided, after a careful examination of the stallions pedigree, so to avoid, any kind of problems related to blood relationship and naturally selecting cats that show and have the best standards.
To avoid an accumulation of stress to our female cats, we allow them to have only one or two litters per year.
We spend a lot of time with the our cats, both adults and kittens.
They spend beautiful days out in the open air in their cat-run. They love to stay out, they look at the birds and have fresh air. They are free to go from the house to the cat-run by a long corridor around 10mt that has been purposely constructed for them in order to give them all the liberty they need. This way they go out when ever they desire, either during the day or at night, we can say that “they are the real landlords” of Sweet Hillock. The environment is clean and their feeding is well balanced and naturally of good quality.
Our cats are part of the family, they are taken care of, cuddled, loved and respected.
